The W.G. Cresser Reserve has barbeque/picnic facilities and large areas of grass lawns for playing football.
The Hobsons Bay Fishing Club, started in December 1995 with 35 members, used to conduct its meetings in the Altona Scout Group Hall at Civic Parade, Altona. On 28 August 2001, the Hobsons Bay City Council approved the construction of a club building on W.G. Cresser Reserve. Now, it has grown to over 200 members.
The club is heavily involved in many community activities such as Altona Bayside Festival, Rex Hunt Future Fish Foundation Mates Day, Ray White Fishing Competition and Clean up Australia Day.
The shallow waters of Altona Bay offer good fishing for pinky snapper, king george whiting and calamari squid.
